US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby expressed his concern about the failure to release detainees held by the Palestinian resistance and the targeting of ships heading to Israel, and that he fears that the conflict will expand.
This came in statements to NBC.
He said that the United States continues its efforts around the clock to reach a new truce in Gaza that will enable it to release more detainees.
He added, “I cannot know how close we are to reaching a truce in Gaza, but I can confirm that we are working with the same determination.”
Kirby expressed the White House’s deep concern about the expansion of the conflict from the Gaza Strip to other fronts, and does not want to see a second front in the north between Tel Aviv and Lebanon
He said that Washington has made clear to its partners publicly and privately, including Iran, that it does not want to see additional conflict in the region.
He pointed out that the United States is working with several countries to strengthen maritime task forces to protect commercial shipping in the Red Sea.
