Today, we mark 1000 days since the Russian Federation launched its full-scale, unprovoked, unjustified military aggression against Ukraine started on February 24, 2022 —a tragic milestone that underscores both the immense suffering endured and the unyielding spirit of our nation. It has been 1000 days of heroic fight of Ukrainians against invasion aimed at occupying our country, destroying its sovereignity, and erasing ournational and cultural identity.
It’s became the expansion of Russian armed aggression that has been going since 2014.
• Over 13,500 civilians, including 590 children, have been killed since February 2022. More than 19,500 children have been forcibly deported to Russia, while 11 million Ukrainians have been displaced, icluding 6,7 million of those who left Ukraine and found shelter abroad.
• An estimated 18 million people/40 % of Ukraine’s total popultaion are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, with over 50% of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure damaged by Russian missile attacks.
•Russia’s missile attacks, including the use of over 11,500 missiles and up to 7,000 dones, have not only devastated Ukraine but also risked nuclear disasters at sites like the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant.
Russian attacks on Ukraine’s power grid and energy infrustructure have intensified recently, leaving 10 million Ukrainians without electricity during the winter months.
Complicity of Belarus, Iran and North Korea in the ongoing aggreassion is a fact.
•Iran has supplied over 1,000 Shahed drones, responsible for attacks on civilian infrastructure. North Korea has reportedly provided artillery shells and ammunition to sustain Russia’s offensive. Recently, 12, 000 North Korean soldiers have been deployed in the eastern part of Ukraine and the Kursk region to fight against Ukrainian Armed Forces
•Sanctions on Russia, Belarus, Iran and North Korea must intensify, with coordinated efforts to restrict arms flows.
Russia has yet to achieve strategic success on the battlefield.
Despite facing a military adversary with a tenfold advantage in military resources, Ukraine has reclaimed over 50% of the territories initially occupied by Russia. Right now, approximately 18 % (compared to 27% in 2022) of Ukraine’s territory of 603,628 km2 have been under Russian occupation. Russia continues to illegally occupy over 125,000 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, including Crimea and parts of the Donbas.
Before the full-fladge invasion, skeptics doubted Ukraine’s ability to withstand the might of “the second-largest army in the world.” Yet, the Ukrainian state has not only survived but stood resolute. Ukrainians have refused to raise the white flag. They have been defending the blue and yellow Ukrainian national flag, their land, families, and themselves. United by pride in their country, they have been bravely resisting– both on the battlefield and through a self-organized multimillion army of volunteers supporting the armed forces and each other in this fight for freedom.
As of today, Russia has suffered irreparable losses, including approximately 722,000 soldiers, both killed in action and wounded. The Ukrainian Army debunked the myth of Russia’s invincible army, brought back the to war to the Russian territory, and exposed that its nuclear blackmail, red lines, and threats of escalation, are nothing more than bluster and buffing.
Frustrated by its military failures and inability to conquere Ukraine, Russia resorts to terrorizing civilians by bombarding our cities and towns on an everyday basis.
President Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula and Peace Plan
•Comprehensive 10-Point Peace Plan: President Zelenskyy has presented a 10-point peace formula addressing critical issues such as territorial integrity, security guarantees, nuclear safety, food security, and justice for war crimes.
•The peace plan has been endorsed by 141countries who voted to condemn Russia at the UN General Assembly in February 2023.
This plan emphasizes the need for Russia’s full withdrawal from Ukrainian territory, reparations for damages, and accountability for war crimes as preconditions for a sustainable and just peace.
We urge the international community to intensify efforts to implement this plan, ensuring a secure and peaceful future for Ukraine and the global order.
•Victory Is Non-Negotiable: Ukraine aims to reclaim the remaining 125,000 square kilometers of occupied territory, including Crimea and the Donbas.
•Ukraine’s vision includes integration into the EU and NATO.
•On behalf of the Ukrainian people, we thank our allies for their solidarity and support throughout these 1000 days.
•Together, with our people and our partners, Ukraine will achieve victory, ensuring a safer and freer world for generations to come.
